Sunny, named by Michelle Obama for her cheerful disposition, officially joined the family on Monday. The puppy was born in Michigan just last June.
“We suspect Sunny will follow in Bo’s footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner and even jump up on the First Lady’s lap from time to time!” reads a statement on the website introducing the pup.

Pictures and video on the site show the furry pooch lounging on the South Lawn, romping side by side with Bo and happily wagging her giant tongue.
The cute canine has a lot to live up to.

The First Family added Bo to the family soon after President Obama won the White House in 2008.
Bo’s official responsibilities include visiting Walter Reed and Children’s National Medical Center, inspecting holiday decorations at the White House and greeting guests during tours and the Easter Egg Roll.
But it can get lonely in the presidential dwelling.

Bo’s 'official responsibilities' include visiting Walter Reed and Children’s National Medical Center, inspecting holiday decorations, and greeting guests during tours and at the annual Easter Egg Roll. He'll now have help from Sunny (not pictured).
In October, the First Lady told reporters that she hosted a “doggie play date” because Bo “doesn’t have enough dog interaction.”
In honor of the new doggie kin, the Obamas are making a donation to the Washington Humane Society, the website says.
