HPD: 3 suspects caught on camera throwing live dog into dumpster - KHOU

Dog thrown in dumpster

HOUSTON — Houston police need the public’s help identifying three male suspects who were captured on surveillance video throwing a live dog into a trash dumpster in southwest Houston.

The suspects were seen throwing a black and white pit bull mix into a dumpster in the parking lot of a U-Haul store located at 8015 South Gessner around 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 12. One of the men closed the lid of the dumpster, preventing the dog from jumping out.

The suspects then sped away in a white or gray four-door SUV, police said.

The general manager of the U-Haul heard barking when he arrived to work later that morning. When he opened the dumpster, he found the dog inside. The manager and another employee from the South Gessner Pet Clinic removed the dog from the dumpster about 2:30 p.m., and it was then evaluated by a veterinarian.

Clinic personnel found someone to adopt the dog, but police want the animal cruelty suspects off the street.

Anyone with information on the identities of the three males or the dog is urged to contact the HPD Major Offenders Division at 713-308-3100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
