A dog named Bella is bringing a new twist to the classic game of catch. According to Daily Mail UK, Bella plays the game with her friend Bubbles, the orphaned elephant.
Bubbles doesn't play at a beginner level. The gentle giant likes to tease Bella with the ball, holding the toy above her head with her trunk or taking the ball into the water. This doesn't stop the labrador, who just climbs onto Bubbles' back when things get difficult.
Once Bella is in position, Bubbles chucks the ball, and the dog is off into the water to retrieve it with the elephant close behind. The pair met at a wildlife park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, that is part of the Rare Species Fund. Director of the park, Bhagavan Antle, brought the two together by rescuing Bubbles when she was only a baby.
The 340-pound calf was left alone and helpless in Africa, after both her parents were slaughtered for their tusks. Bubbles was taken out of this dire situation and flown first-class to a new life. She arrived in the United States with several other orphaned elephants looking to find a home at a wildlife facility. Antle fell for Bubbles instantly, and now the playful pachyderm has been living at the wildlife park for 30 years.
Bubbles' life got even better when Bella arrived, finding an unusual but frisky friend in the dog. The duo spend most of their time playing, resting and fetching balls together. Bubbles does take the occasional break to entertain the masses. The elephant has appeared in "Ace Ventura 2" and in a Janet Jackson music video. She's also neighbors with recent pawstar, Hercules, the world's largest feline. What a talented bunch!
