Police are investigating the death of a dog that apparently fell 43 stories from a downtown high-rise this morning, police said.
Authorities were called about 8:15 a.m. after the dog was found in front of the building in the 300 block of East South Water Street, according to Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.
A doorman at the building told police the dog appeared to be one that lived in a 43rd-story apartment at the building, Sullivan said.
Police were investigating how the dog fell from the building.
Chicago Animal Care and Control officials were responding, as was a crew from the Department of Streets and Sanitation, Sullivan said.
