'Dog Whisperer' reps pit bulls on Hill - Politico

Some might find this interview for the dogs: Tuesday at 1 p.m., Rep. Tony Cardenas (D-Calif.) will be interviewed not by, say, Bob Woodward or David Gregory, but by Cesar Millan.

Yes, the “Dog Whisperer,” known for his show of the same name that ran on the channel Nat Geo Wild from 2004 to 2012.

Millan will also — and naturally — be joined by a dog.

It’s all for Millan’s “Love My Bully” television special that he’s filming for the Nat Geo Wild channel, which looks at pit bulls and the “complex cultural and legal issues that the breed is subjected to,” according to a release.

Millan will talk to Cardenas about breed specific legislation, a term that focuses on legislation or regulations that restrict ownership of specific dogs. Frequently, pit bulls are the most common focus of such legislation. The White House has even chimed in on the topic, coming out against breed-specific legislation in August by saying that, “research shows that bans on certain types of dogs are largely ineffective and often a waste of public resources.”
