KEMPTON, Pa. (AP) — A family in central Pennsylvania is asking state game officials to investigate the death of their 10-month-old puppy, suspected to have been shot by a bow hunter.
WFMZ-TV reported that Barbara Dieter of Kempton found her dog Lilly dead in the woods Sunday morning.
She says the dog didn’t respond to calls Saturday evening, and later a neighbor telephoned to say hunters using his property reported killing a dog with an arrow.
Family members found the dog but didn’t locate an arrow.
Dieter calls the Australian shepherd-pointer mix a very affectionate pet who played with everyone and didn’t have a mean bone in her body.
They’ve reported the incident to the Game Commission, which tells the family an officer will review the matter.
