A South Chicago man was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail Sunday after he allegedly stabbed a dog to death during a domestic dispute.
Raymond A. Rodgers, of the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue, faces misdemeanor domestic battery and criminal damage to property charges in connection to Friday’s incident, according to court records.
The property damage charge is in connection to the dog’s death.
Rodgers, 36, got into an argument with a woman he lived with Friday, according to court records.
When he grabbed her and was about to strike her, the woman’s dog got up and started barking at Rodgers, according to records.
Rodgers took a knife out of his back pocket and stabbed the dog to death, according to records.
He was bitten at some point and fled after the dog was killed, records state.
Later, police received reports that Rodgers had checked in for treatment of an animal bite at Advocate Trinity Hospital, according to records.
Rodgers was arrested early Saturday at the hospital, according to records.
