Infant in Evergreen airlifted to hospital after being attacked by family dog - The Denver Channel

EVERGREEN, Colo. - An infant in Evergreen was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday after being attacked by a dog.

The child was bitten on the head by the family's American Bulldog at their home on Pine Road near Evergreen Lake, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies said.

The 1-year-old boy is at Children's Hospital being treated for series injuries.

Investigators said the boy's mother called 911 at around noon to report the attack.

7NEWS was there when Animal Control officers used two catch poles to control the 70-pound dog.

A photo of the dog was released by the Sheriff's Office.

Neighbors told 7NEWS that the dog was aggressive enough with other animals that the owner used a choke chain and a tension leash to keep it under control when walking it in public.

"They said he was fine with people and not with dogs," said neighbor Paul Folsom.

The dog was taken to Foothills Animal Shelter where it will remain in quarantine for 10 days so Animal Control officers can monitor its behavior and check it for rabies.

The Sheriff's Office said it is investigating.
