Rescue dog inspires a music video - Houston Chronicle

After months of surgery and rehab from a shotgun blast to the face, Buck the mixed-breed rescue dog is finding even greater fame online with a music video.

"Buck Teaches Forgiveness" by Matthew West and produced by VirtualTourSuccess is now live on YouTube.

The dog's story began last January when a passer-by noticed movement in a contractor's garbage bag tied to a post on Bulldog Lane in Conroe, Montgomery County Police Reporter says in a detailed story on its website today .

After discovering the shot dog and determining it had been left to die, neighbors turned to livelong animal rescuer Tami Augustyn.

"Dogs love unconditionally. You'll never find anyone or anything that loves you like a dog. Why would you injure something like that? I don't understand," she tells Police Reporter.

The mixed breed, 3-year-old dog underwent extensive surgery for buckshot wounds to his face. Donations poured in for the operations, but his eyes couldn't be saved.

Augustyn has launched the "Buck Foundation" to spread the word about animal abuse to schools, juvenile probation facilities and shelters across the area, Police Reporter notes.
