Boomer The Dog Rescued From Washington Mudslide Debris Field - Huffington Post

Nearly two weeks after the deadly mudslide in Oso, Wash., a lost and injured dog named Boomer was found wandering the debris field.


Boomer wandered into the debris field from his home two or three miles away, although previous reports suggested he had survived the tragedy. He was found Wednesday night by two people searching for their own missing dog, KING 5 Seattle reported.

KING 5 later noted that the dog was not a victim of the mudslide.


Boomer, a golden retriever, has cuts on his arms and legs and hip problems, according to the station. He's currently being cared for at a local veterinary clinic, where he is in stable condition.


John Langeler, a reporter for the station, sent out a second photo of Boomer via Twitter:



Boomer's previous owner was killed in the mudslide, but had given the dog to his sister, who is now caring for him.


King 5 has set up a page on how to help other pets affected by the mudslide.


CORRECTION: A previous version of this article stated that Boomer survived the mudslide. He actually wandered to the area after the disaster occurred.
