Dog dies after being tossed down Brooklyn trash chute - New York Daily News

A tiny pooch had to be put down after it was apparently thrown down a garbage chute into a trash compactor in Brooklyn, police and witnesses said.

Police pulled the miniature dog from a garbage compactor in the Sheepshead/Nostrand houses on Batchelder St. near Ave. X around 5 p.m., according to law enforcement sources and witnesses.

The dog could not walk and was rushed to a nearby vet, according to witnesses. A woman — who neighbors said owned the dog — was cuffed at the scene.

“He made me miserable, I have pain,” the elderly woman ranted as she was put into a police cruiser.

Police questioned the woman but she was later released, police said.

Neighbors had seen the dog waiting in front of the owner’s fourth-floor apartment door earlier in the day, a resident of the building, who gave her name as Lisa, said.

Soon after, a resident throwing trash into the compactor heard the dog, she said.

“She went to throw out the garbage and she heard the dog crying,” Lisa said. “I ran to housing and got (them) to open up where the (compactors) are because the door was locked.”

She said she found the dog bleeding in the bottom of the trash compactor.

“It was bleeding. It was still crying,” she said.

The dog was transferred into the care of the ASPCA but had to be euthanized, police said.
