A 71-year-0ld Easton man and his dog were killed while on a walk Monday morning when they were struck by a 2005 Infiniti sedan, officials said.
Easton police received 911 calls at about 9:20 a.m. reporting the accident in the area of 24 Summer St., Gregg Miliote, spokesman for Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter, said in a prepared statement.
Miliote identified the victim as George E. Power. Firefighters arrived to find Power lying unresponsive in the front yard of a Summer Street home, Captain James Walsh of the Easton Fire Department said.
Walsh said Power’s shoes lay about 50 feet away from his body.
“There was quite a bit of debris covering the roadway, fluid spills, heavy damage to the vehicle,” he said.
Firefighters began CPR, which continued as Power was transported by an Easton Fire Department ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, where he was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m., officials said.
The driver, a 17-year-old whose name was not released, was transported to Brockton Hospital and was expected to survive his injuries, Miliote said.
No charges have been filed pending findings of an investigation by the district attorney’s office, State Police detectives assigned to the DA’s office, Easton police, and the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, Miliote said.
A witness said that Power frequently walked his dog in the area, Walsh said.
A portion of Summer Street was closed for about 3½ hours after the accident, Walsh said.
